Man Utd won't sell players on the cheap - Amorim

 

Manchester United's head coach, Ruben Amorim, has issued a firm statement regarding the club's transfer policy, asserting that they will not sell players "on the cheap." This declaration comes amidst ongoing speculation surrounding the future of several high-profile players who have been left out of the club's pre-season tour.

Players like Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia were not included in the squad traveling to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series, signaling their potential departures. Marcus Rashford has already completed a loan move to Barcelona for the 2025-26 season, with an option for a permanent transfer.

Amorim, along with the club's chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox, has set specific valuations for these players. He has made it clear that if rival clubs do not meet these asking prices, the players will remain at Manchester United and could be reintegrated into the squad.

The Portuguese coach explicitly warned clubs against waiting until the final days of the transfer window, hoping for a cut-price deal. He stated that those who do so "can have a surprise" and that he is "ready to receive the players" back into the team, emphasizing that it would increase competition within the squad.

Amorim's stance reflects a shift in Manchester United's transfer strategy under the new leadership, aiming to avoid being exploited in the market. While the club has already made significant signings this summer, including Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno, they are still looking to strengthen in key areas like defensive midfield and striker.

Despite the desire for further additions, Amorim expressed contentment with his current squad, stating that "all the players that are here want to be here - and that for me is the most important thing." This indicates a focus on having committed players who are fully bought into his project.
